The Narita Gion Festival is a summer festival with a history of about 300 years, celebrated by the community around Naritasan together with the Naritasan Gionkai, which involves prayers for a rich harvest, the peace of the nation, and fulfillment of wishes to the Dainichi Nyorai, who is enshrined in the inner shrine, a honjibutsu (original identity) of Fudo Myo-o, the principle deity of Naritasan Shinsho-ji Temple.
