This temple is of the Tendai Sect and is said to have been founded by Jikaku Daishi in 838 during the Heian period. The principal image is Juichimen Kanzeon (eleven-faced Buddha), the god of longevity, safe child birth and child rearing. In the precincts of the temple are the main building, which was rebuilt in 1698 to have a magnificent Hakken Shimen space and was designated as one of Chiba Prefecture's tangible cultural properties, the Niomon gate which is designated as one of Japan's national treasure.
